Naomi Foster Spence

March 31, 1934 — November 21, 2013

Naomi Jean Foster Spence, 79, of Jonesboro, died Thursday, November 21, 2013, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Born in Otwell, Naomi lived most of her life in Jonesboro. She worked many years as a Real Estate Broker for Century 21 Diamond Realty which she owned and operated along with her husband, Herbert Spence, Jr.

Naomi was a charter member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church where she was a long time Sunday school teacher, but had been attending Apt Full Gospel Church for the past few years. She held dual memberships in the Nettleton Chapter and the Jonesboro Olive Chapter #147 of Order of the Eastern Star where she held all chapter offices as well as past Worthy Matron. She was a past Nevada State Representative to the National OES Chapter.

Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Dosha Manning Emenhiser, her husband, Herbert Spence, Jr., and a baby sister, Carolyn Emenhiser.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Freda Ishmael (David) and Ronda Foster, all of Jonesboro;

4 sons: Jim Foster (Yvonne), Garry Foster (Louise) and Clay Foster, all of Jonesboro and Glenn Foster of Cherokee Village;

4 sisters: Barbara Emenhiser of Carol Stream, Illinois, Jo Ann Cowgur (Bill) of Jackson, Missouri, Debi Lawrence (Ben) of Elkhart, Indiana, and Pam McGuire (Greg) of Lansing, Michigan;

8 grandchildren: Allen Foster (Amy), Tiffany Tynes, Brittany Foster, Stanley Morris, Josh Foster, Garry Foster, Jr., Christi Mattix (Jeremy) and Lee Foster;

8 great grandchildren and a great granddaughter to be born in March.

Funeral services with O.E.S. rites will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dale Davis and Rev. Stan Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Roy Sims, Jeremy Mattix, grandsons: Garry Foster, Jr., Lee Foster, Josh Foster and great grandsons: Jase Mattix, Hunter Mattix and Ethan Foster.

Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon from 12:00-2:00 in Emerson Chapel.
