Naomi Box

April 16, 1931 — November 17, 2014

Naomi Nelms Box passed away Monday, November 17, 2014, at NEA Baptist Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Naomi was born April 16, 1931, to the late Preston and Frankye DeBerry Nelms, and lived the first and last years of her life in Brookland. She graduated Brookland High School in 1949 and was a member of Pine Log United Methodist Church.

When Naomi was able, she loved working in her flower gardens, putting up Christmas lights, crocheting, making hair bows and canning. She thought of her friends and neighbors as extended family and loved them all. The Box family extends special Thanks to Jo Ann, Donald and Bertha, Luke and Myria, and James Hayes for always assisting when help was needed. Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, husband P.W. (Pete) Box, son Larry Box, brother Edward Nelms and sister Frances Nall.

Survivors include 1 son, Gary (Pat) Box of Liverpool, New York;
1 daughter, Susan Cornish of Brookland;
a sister-in-law, Yvonne Nelms;
Like a daughter and son-in-law: Linda and Tommy Sitzer;
6 grandchildren: Tara Box of Liverpool, New York, Tricia (Glenn) Dildy of Wilmington, North Carolina, Wes (Lori) Cornish of Monette, Ryan (Wendy) Cornish of Paragould, Adam (Lisa) Cornish of Jonesboro, and Autumn Farless of Jonesboro;
8 great grandchildren: Morgan and Hayden Preston and Judd Cornish all of Paragould, Olivia and Wyatt Cornish both of Monette, London Hughes and Logan Farless both of Jonesboro, and Rhett Dildy of Wilmington, North Carolina; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Herschel Richardson and Rev. Rick Hathcoat officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers include Don Nall, Bruce Nelms, Kenny Scott, Jason Crocker, Jerry Easley and Joel Crocker.

Honorary pallbearers include Tommy Sitzer, James Hayes, Donald Mink, John Eric Hawkins, John Davis, Bryan Hill, Luke Harmon, Nancy, Kim, Kim, Sam, Drue and Kara, Jo Ann Martin, Donald and Bertha Mink, Tim Hudson, Donna Sutton, Bill and Pat Thompson, Deb and Wanda Hathcoat, Pat Smith, Phillis Cagel, Bill and Florence McLaughlin, and members of Pine Log United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that consideration be given to Pine Log Cemetery Association, American Heart Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
