Nancy Jo McFarland, (86), of Jonesboro, died April 22 at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
She was born in Blytheville, AR to the late Joe Lynn and Dewey Vivian Hamby. During her 40-year career with the Department of Defense, she received numerous awards including the Department of Defense Outstanding Civilian Career Service Medal. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and actively participated in many of its ministries. She was a previous officer of the Arkansas hospital auxiliary association and a child advocate for the group CASA.
Survivors include son, Cary (Tanesa) McFarland, of Oklahoma City, OK; daughters, Jo Ellen Shadrick of Oklahoma City, OK, and Lee Anne (Cliff) Edwards of West Palm Beach, FL; a sister, Teresa (Larry) Brimhall of Jonesboro; granddaughter, Brooklyn (Angel) Perez; grandsons Connor (Mary) McFarland, Striker, Austin, and Dakota Shadrick, Brady and Tyson Edwards; great-granddaughters Sophia, Journey and Finola; great-grandsons Maxton, Legion, Legend and Felix; and a nephew, Douglas Brimhall.
Memorial Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Friday, May 6 th at 10:00 am. Visitation will be on the evening of May 5 th at Emerson Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
