Nancy "Lucy" Roedel

Nancy “Lucy” Pickering Roedel, 82, of Jonesboro entered into eternal rest on Sunday October 16, 2011, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House.


Nancy “Lucy” was born to the late Doff and Lilie Pickering on December 21, 1928, and she lived her whole life in the Jonesboro area. She was a member of the Prospect Baptist Church since 1957, and she sang in a Quartet with her church for many years. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, where she loved to sew, cook, fish, and camp. Those that came in contact with Lucy will never forget her smile.

In addition to her parents, Doff and Lilie Pickering, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Roedel; brothers, E.L., Jessie C., Boyce, J.W., Bill, and Raymond Pickering; two sisters, Donnie Biford and Robbie Mae Holt.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Copeland and her husband Vick of Jonesboro; one granddaughter, Dana Erwin and her husband Chris of Jonesboro; one grandson, Derek Copeland and Ashley Nalley of Jonesboro; three great grandchildren, Dylan, Haden, and Tosha; one great great grandchild, Kason and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services will be Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Pine Log Cemetery with Rev. Dub Holt officiating and Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.

Honorary Pallbearers are Lucy’s Sunday School Class at Prospect Baptist Church.
