Nancy Marie Davis, a beloved figure in the Jonesboro community, peacefully passed away on May 6, 2024, at St. Elizabeths Place, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 76. Nancy's journey began on September 27, 1947, born to Dennis and Geraldine Ellis. She spent the majority of her vibrant life in Jonesboro, though she briefly resided in Oakland, CA.

Nancy graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, and pursued a fulfilling career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) before retiring. Her commitment to service extended beyond her profession as she dedicated over three decades as an Usher, serving faithfully in numerous local churches, notably at Precious Love Church in Jonesboro.

She had a passion for life and found joy in the simple pleasures it offered. Nancy was known for her love of food, fishing, and playing cards, particularly Spades. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband of 15 years, Chester Davis, and her sister, Joyce Quinn, who preceded her in passing. She leaves behind a legacy adorned with love and cherished memories. Nancy is survived by her son, Herman Hampton, of Jonesboro; two Goddaughters, Annette Thomas-Burton (Bobby) of Jonesboro and Farrah Lasley of Omaha, NE; her brother, Ken Tell of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Lorenzo Hampton, Essence Singleton, Narcissa Singleton, Delontre Hampton, and DeQuan Hampton; great-grandchildren, Zoe Hampton, Addie Hampton, Roman Hampton, Keenan Hampton, Zayden Gray, Jaynarriah Barrow, Jaymarrion Barrow, Cerenity Singleton, Chaunice Thomas, and Taraji Singleton; nieces, Kathy "Muff" Quinn and Denise Ellis of Detroit, MI; and nephew, Ronnie Quinn.

A graveside service honoring Nancy's remarkable life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Knights of Pythias Cemetery. This will be followed by a repass celebrating Nancy Davis' Home Going at the E. Boone Watson Community Center.
