Myra J. Phillips, 77, of Jonesboro, died December 10, 2012 at Skilcare Nursing Center. She was born in Cherry Valley but had lived most of her life in Jonesboro. Myra loved her children and worshipped her grandchildren. She was a very social person and loved being with her friends. While she lived at Skilcare, she was a vital part of the family there. She never missed one of the dances and had been voted Valentine Princess. She was also active in the Senior Olympics. Myra enjoyed reading her Bible and looked forward every week to the First Baptist Church Sunday School class held at the nursing center.
She is survived by her children, Rolland Phillips, Little Rock, Barry Phillips, Millington, Tennessee, Debbie Jernigan, Jonesboro, Vickie Spoonmore, Bremerton, Washington, Ellie West, Jonesboro; grandchildren, Eric Jernigan, Jennifer Jernigan, Jason Jernigan, Chris Davis, Candice Johnson, Chelsea Davis, Malinda Phillips Betrand, Kyle Phillips, Carry Phillips, Jared Phillips, Erin Phillips Kennedy, Gracie Phillips, Katelyn Phillips, Amber Lewis, Tanya Smitherman, Justin Federanko; 22 great grandchildren; a brother, Bobby (Karen) Rorex, Iowa City, Iowa; sister, Billie Bryant, Jonesboro; 2 sisters-in-law, Tommie Sue Rorex and Faye Rorex; and all her family at Skilcare.
Myra was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne & Mildred Martin Rorex; son, Anthony Wayne Phillips; brothers, Norman Rorex, Tommy Rorex, Charlie Rorex; and a sister, Greata Sutterfield.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 14, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be private.
Serving as pallbearers are Chelsea Davis, Jason Jernigan, Eric Jernigan, Chris Davis, Kyle Phillips, Carry Phillips, Jared Phillips, and Candice Davis.
Visitation will be Friday 1:30 – 3:30 pm at the funeral home.
