Murray Fredrick Mitchell

October 12, 1920 — November 10, 2008

Murray Fredrick Mitchell, 88, of Jonesboro passed away Monday November 10, 2008 at his home.

He was born in Jonesboro and lived here all his life and graduated from Jonesboro High School Class of 1940. He was a yardman for the Cotton Belt Railroad for 39 years, a WWII Marine Corporal and of the Methodist belief. He also loved to hunt fish and play cards and dominoes.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Mitchell of twenty five years, parents William Fredrick Mitchell and Mattie Ophelia Marlar Mitchell, one brother Roger Edward Mitchell and his companion of thirty five years Wilma Burton.

Survived by two sons William F. Mitchell and wife Ann of Farmville, VA. And John Murray Mitchell of Jonesboro.

Five daughters Brenda K. Kibby and husband Gary of Bono, Sarah Beth Morris and husband Brian of Batesville, Lisa Jo Neal and husband Jeff of Grand Prairie, Texas, Martha Ann Arnold and husband Danny of Burleson, Texas and Susan Lynn Ermoian and husband Richard of Kenosha, WI.

One sister Alice Mae Wheeler of Jonesboro and special thanks to caregivers, Judy Neal and Billie Vaughn

Thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday November 13, 2008 at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Wayne Wheeler officiating. Burial will be private, with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
