Morris "Hoppy" Hoffman Sr

Morris “Hoppy” Hoffman Sr. 81, of Jonesboro passed away October 21, 2010 at his home. He was born and raised in Jonesboro and attended the New Hope Baptist Church.

Morris was a 42 year veteran serving 2 years in the Navy on the L.S.M’R 404 during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge from the Navy, he joined the Arkansas National Guard, serving as 1st Sgt for Company A and in a full time administrative position until retirement in 1989. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel and Tommie Hoffman.

Morris is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Hoffman of the home. One son, Hoppy Hoffman Jr and wife, Shelia of Jonesboro. One daughter Lynne Cooper and husband, Russ of Florida. Four grandchildren, Jake Owens, Hoppy Hoffman III, Chase Hoffman and Mary Elizabeth Hoffman.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday with Full Military Honors at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Don Vuncannon officiating. Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Honorary pallbearers will be Active and retired members of the 875th National Guard Company A, Nurse’s CAN’s and Staff of St. Bernard’s Hospice.

There will be no visitation.

Family requests that lasting memorials be made to the St. Bernard’s Hospice, 1726 Marie Circle Jonesboro, Arkansas 72401.
