Ramona "Mona" Elizabeth Maupin, 63, of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully at her home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on May 15, 1963, in East St. Louis, Illinois to Hector and Doris Barron.
Mona was of the Baptist belief and was an active member of Friendly Hope Baptist Church. She worked at Living Word Kids Academy as a pre-school teacher and absolutely loved her job.
Mona had a love for life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed reading, watching crime dramas such as Dateline and Forensic Files, and traveling to new places whenever she had the opportunity. She was an avid Snoopy fan and delighted in collecting all things Snoopy. Above all else, Mona treasured the time she spent with her family, creating memories that will be forever cherished.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hector and Doris Barron, and her brother, Joey Barron.
Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband of 34 years, Andy Maupin; her beloved daughter, Elizabeth Maupin (Cade George); her brother, Mike Barron of Belleville, Illinois; her sisters, Margaret Barron of Collinsville, Illinois, and Michelle Barron Newton of Fairview, Illinois; along with nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 1, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 2, at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home with Bro. Matt Loafman officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Mark Bowers, Cade George, Eric Isbill, Kevin Graves, John Maupin, and Jason Maupin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Mona Maupin Scholarship Fund at the University of Central Arkansas.
