Mitchell Clay Hackney

Mitchell Clay Hackney, 63, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed from this life on December 26th, 2023, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House at St. Bernard’s.   Mitch was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming on January 25th, 1960, to Bernis Mitchell and Opal Marie (Bennett) Hackney.

Mitch worked many years in the construction industry, spending his last years in Colorado, where he enjoyed the beauty of the mountains.  Mitch found peace in the splendor of nature and was especially fond of Alley Spring, Missouri where many of his happiest childhood memories were made.  Country music was his passion, spending many years of his life chasing the stage and the comradery of the industry.  Mitch spent his final days surrounded by family, and even in illness he found peace.

Mitch is preceded in death by his parents, sister Marena Fellers, and brother Christopher Hackney.  He is survived by daughter Jamie Hackney, sons Mitchell Clay Ellison, Chris Patrick, and Levi McCollum, grandson Knox Montgomery, sister Jan Hudson, and brother Joe Childers.

The family wishes to thank St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center, Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, Dr. Owens, and all the staff that provided exceptional care and support.

The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests considering donations to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House at St. Bernard’s.
