Obituary

In the peaceful predawn hours with the birds singing sweetly outside her window, Misty George, age 50, went to sleep and woke up in her Savior’s arms on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Born, Misty Dawn Chappel, on December 15, 1975, she lived her life in Jonesboro, AR. She had always cut the hair of her baby dolls and Barbies and decided to make her dream of hairstyling come true. She enrolled in beauty school and never looked back. She quickly became a success! Clients would even come from out of state to have their hair done by her. She began her career in 1998, and today her clients have become more than just friends, they are her extended family.

She enjoyed traveling. Whether going to the beach with family, following her son to archery competitions across the country or video game conventions to traveling with her husband on anniversary trips. She always had her next trip planned or was planning it.

She loved her family fiercely but above all she loved God more. She was a devoted member of Nettleton Baptist Church where she served on a mission trip with the youth, was an active member of her Sunday School class and had plans of returning to work with young adults.

Misty is survived by her husband, Brad George, and her son, Will. She is also survived by her sister, Tonya Chappel of Jonesboro AR, and her brother Scott (Cheryl) Chappel of Bauxite, AR. Also survived by her brother-in-law Tony (Karla) George of Newport, AR. As well as nephew Brayden Chappel and niece Laci Chappel of Bauxite, AR. She is also survived by many wonderful aunts and uncles and cousins as well as a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Sandra Chappel of Jonesboro, AR and her in-laws, Sue George of Newport, AR and Jack George of Vilonia, AR.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, from 1:00-3:00 pm with funeral following at 3:00 pm. Services will be held at Emmerson Funeral Home, 1629 East Nettleton, Jonesboro, AR 72401. Burial will take place at the Nettleton Cemetery following the funeral. Officiants will be Brady Canright, Senior pastor of Nettleton Baptist Church, assisted by Bro. Stan Ballard, retired pastor of Nettleton Baptist Church.

Pallbearers include Brayden Chappel, Jared Bassham, Jason Colburn, Jeff Long, Jim Bryant and Glenn Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Jagged Edge Salon and Spa Family as well as the members of the Co-Ed 3A Sunday School Class of Nettleton Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society Harrrah’s Hope Lodge – Memphis, TN.
