Minnie R. Rhoda Pierce, 94, of Wynne, Arkansas died Monday, May 25, 2009 at Cross Ridge Community Hospital in Wynne. She had lived in Wynne for four years, moving there from Lake City, Arkansas. She was of the Pentecostal belief and had dedicated her life to raising her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Everybody who knew her referred to her as “Grandma”.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Pierce; one daughter, Doris Gill; two step children and one grandson.
Survivors include one son, Johnny Pierce, Trumann, Arkansas; daughters, Shirley Hutcherson, Trumann; Patricia Kirby, Paragould, Arkansas; Mary Pierce, Illinois; one step-daughter Louise Schmidt, Trumann; one sister Mary Cockrell, Troy, Missouri; two granddaughters, Charlotte Smith and Melissa Williams, both of Wynne; three great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, three great great grandsons and numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 29, 2009 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Casey Barker officiating and burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers are Samuel Demelo, Antawin Cobb, David Kirby, Joseph Smith, Stewart Callahand, and Jason Williams. Visitation will be from 12:30 until service time on Friday at Emerson Chapel.
