Minnie Lavitha Peaster, 93, of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
Born in Nettleton, Minnie lived in Jonesboro before moving to Lake City several years ago. She was a homemaker and member of the First Pentecostal Church of Lake City. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and cooking for her family.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Laura Tannehill Gandy; husband Richard Peaster; 3 daughters: Kay Boyer, Brenda Pyle, and Amanda Riley; 2 sons: Terry Peaster and Danny Peaster; 4 brothers: Walter "Jack" Gandy, Lloyd Gandy, Gary Gandy and Barry Gandy; 3 sisters: Patsy Newberry, Louise Malena, and Francis Brady; 2 grandsons: Clark Pyle and Brandon Peaster; and a great, great granddaughter Allianna Schultz.
Survivors include:
2 brothers: David "Pete" and wife Phyllis Gandy of Harrisburg, and Larry Gandy of Jonesboro;
2 sisters: Velma Barber of Jonesboro and Geneva Clem of San Antonio, Texas;
5 granddaughters: Whitney Meece, Angie Moring, Myca Ferguson, Amberly Jones and Teri Metcalf;
2 grandsons: Michael Peaster and Zac Riley;
19 great grandchildren, and
several great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Herman Cemetery.
Visitation will precede the funeral service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the Chapel.
