Mildred Geneva Whitley

Mildred Geneva Whitley, 85, of Bono passed from this life on Monday, December 8, 2014 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro. Mildred was born on August 30, 1929 in Rosie, Arkansas to Virgil and Lettie Hayes. She was a member of Apple Hill Church of Christ. She enjoyed spending time with her family, planting flowers and gardening, and she was an avid reader. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Nathan, of 67 years, and one brother, Doyle (Sam) Hayes. Survivors include two sons and their wives; Glen and Linda Whitley of Bono; Terry and Patricia Whitley of Collierville, Tennessee; four grandchildren; Jeffrey and Stephanie Whitley, Justin and Lauren Whitley, Amy and Dale Lipford, and Ashley McDole; six great grandchildren Florence Whitley, Wesleigh Whitley, Devin Lipford, Hannah Allen, Kelli McDole and Owen McDole; one brother, Glen Hayes of Swifton, two sisters, Loyce Fowler of Jonesboro, and Joyce Dunn of Hope.

Visitation will be held at Emerson Funeral Home from 4:30-7 pm Wednesday, December 10, 2014 and services will be held at 10 a.m Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Jimmy Young officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery in Bono, Arkansas with active pallbearers being: Jeffrey Whitley, Justin Whitley, Devin Lipford, Owen McDole, Dale Lipford, and Ben Bryant.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to the Paragould Children’s Home in Paragould, Arkansas.
