Mike “Big Mike” McQuay, 67, a lifetime resident of Jonesboro, died on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro. He was born to James and Daphyne McQuay in Jonesboro on August 1, 1957. Mike was of the Baptist belief. He served his country in the US Army for 22 years, until retiring. He also worked as a Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Jonesboro. Some of his hobbies included hunting and motorcycles. His favorite sport was watching the St. Louis Cardinals. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Cindy McQuay, of the home; sons, Mike McQuay and wife, Angie of Jonesboro; Jon McQuay and wife Alicia of Hawaii; sisters, Penny Kirksey and husband, Randy of Jonesboro; Paula Schlueter of Horn Lake, Mississippi; stepmother. Rita McQuay; seven grandchildren, Michael, Maddie, Jenna, Shannon, Ava, Aaron, Keira and one great grandson, Killian.
A memorial service will be at 6:00 on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jim Guntharp officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 5:00 until service time. Burial will be private. Honorary pallbearers will be the Code Enforcement Unit for the city of Jonesboro.
