Michael Ray Wamsley, 64, passed away on June 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born September 16, 1961, Mike was the son of Dorothy Griffith Wamsley Wilson and Coy (Homer) Ray Wamsley. He was preceded in death by his son, Joshua Ray Wamsley; his father, Coy Ray Wamsley; and his grandmother, Della Ellen Griffith.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Penny Bibb Wamsley of the home. He is also survived by his children, Hope (Tyler) Cleeton of Moberly, Missouri, Tyler (Mallory) Wamsley of Lake City, Arkansas, and Casey (Justin) Kidd of Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was a proud grandfather to Nevaeh Cleeton, Nivek Cleeton, Dominic Cleeton, Bianca Cleeton, William Kidd, Kennedy Wamsley, and Averett Kidd, his mother, Dorothy Wilson; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, W.T. and Jenendal Bibb; his sisters, Rita Kriley (David) and Barbara Simpson; his sister-in-law, Patti Cannon (David) along with nieces Kelsey Tisher (Mike), Callie (Austin), and Evie. In addition, Mike is survived by numerous loving extended family members and friends.

Mike was a man whose life was defined by hard work, humility, and service to others. He possessed a remarkable work ethic and a talent for nearly anything he set his mind to. Whether restoring vehicles, building houses, working on electrical and telephone lines, farming, or helping a neighbor in need, Mike approached every task with determination and skill. Prior to his cancer diagnosis in 2000, he owned and operated a parts and tire store in Moberly, Missouri.

More important than what Mike did was why he did it. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, help those around him, and teach his children the value of honesty, responsibility, and perseverance. He believed in leading by example and showing his love through action rather than words.

In 1990, Mike married his best friend, Penny. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to one another. Their love story was one of partnership, friendship, and devotion that endured through every season of life.

Those who knew Mike will remember a man who was always willing to lend a hand, who never sought recognition for his kindness, and who found purpose in caring for others. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. His presence made life better for those around him.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery.

The family is honored to have Cade Qualls, Kyle Cleeton, Ryan Cleeton, Dylan Cleeton, Mason Boorom, and Ethan Boorom serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Dan Boorom, William Cleeton, Jason White, Brian Griffin, Churck Sutherland, and Scott Penton.

While his family grieves his loss, they take comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the values he instilled, the lives he touched, and the love he shared so freely. The world is a little dimmer without him, but his impact will continue to be felt for generations to come.
