Michael Philpot

Michael M. Philpot was called home by our Lord and Savior on January 13, 2021.

Mike was born to O.E. and Sally Philpot on September 2 in Chateauroux, France.  He attended Harding University ( B.BA .) and University of Central Arkansas (M.S.).  He was a Certified Economic Developer with over 30 years of service in Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas.  He was an encourager and greatly respected for his knowledge and expertise, but most importantly he exemplified Christ to those around him.

Mike loved family, friends, fishing, hunting, and SEC football. He was a true southern gentleman and will be remembered for his sweet gentle spirit, infectious smile, and bear hugs.

Most recently Mike was a member of Southwest Church of Christ. Prior to moving to Jonesboro he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, and life group leader.

Mike was preceded in death by his father O.E. Philpot and father-in-law Don Gill. He is survived and missed by his loving mother Sally Philpot, wife and college sweetheart of 40 years Robin Philpot, sons and daughters-in-love Garrett and Bethany Philpot, Chase and Brittany Philpot, Dalton Philpot and Madison King, along with the apple of his eye, granddaughter Bonnie Rae Philpot; sister, Lisa and Don Watson, and many well-loved in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 29 at Skyline Church of Christ, Jackson, Tennessee.  A remembrance and tribute service will be held Saturday, January 30 at 1:00 p.m. at Skyline Church and will also be streamed via FB Live from the Skyline Church of Christ Facebook page.

The family extends their appreciation for all those who have reached out through prayer, love, and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to the Bonnie Rae Philpot College Fund through Regions Bank.
