Michael “Mike” Kay Olsen, 73, of Jonesboro passed from this life Saturday, June 25, 2016 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He was born January 19, 1943 in Ogden, Utah to the late Moylen Kay and Helen Parker Olsen.
Michael “Mike” had an incredible work ethic that he passed on to his family members. Mike had a bit of a loveable “stubborn side” but after spending 30 years with his beautiful wife and business partner in Green River, Wyoming, he relented at the right time and relocated and retired in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and just being outside. Most of all Mike enjoyed spending time with his family and doing what he called “his job” which was taking care of them. Mike had a generous, kind, funny and loyal heart….which he did not wear on his sleeve, but you knew it was there. Mike will be missed and remembered with laughter and love by his family who appreciates “Grandpa” so much and the example he was to all of us.
Michael is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jessie Olsen, one son: Michael K. Olsen Jr. of Ogden, Utah; three daughters: Kymberly (Peter) Buttschardt of Ogden, Utah, Nikki (Jose) Marquez of Belvidere, Illinois, and Julie (Britt) Dortch of Jonesboro; one brother: Bruce (Pam) Olsen of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee; two sisters: Sheila (Clair) Langston of Leeds, Utah and Karen (Reed) Ferrin of Las Vegas, Nevada; and eleven grandchildren: Abigale Olsen, Logan Marquez, Will Madura, Jackson Buttschardt, Jordan Dortch, Tristan Marquez, Alexandra Madura, Michael Olsen, Philip Buttschardt, Lucas Buttschardt, and Jenna Dortch.
“God Bless Wyoming and Keep it Wild.” God Bless our loving Husband, Father and Grandfather, Michael Kay Olsen.
A private family Memorial Service was held in honor of Michael on Monday, June 27, 2016.
