Michael Wayne Nunnally, 36, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at St. Bernards Medical Center of natural causes.
Michael was born in Memphis and grew up in Evening Shade where he was a 2005 graduate of Evening Shade High School. Michael earned a BS degree in Finance from Arkansas State University; a BS degree in Accounting from Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia; and a Master in Business Administration degree from the University of Arkansas Little Rock.
Michael is an Accountant at Jonesboro City Water and Light where he has worked 13 years in customer service, accounting and the Service Building Manager. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro where he was active with the Wiggins Sunday school class and a member of the security team.
Michael was a member of the United Way of Greater Jonesboro where he was Chairman of the Board and served as a Loaned Officer for several years. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and previously served as a financial advisor to the local chapter. Michael was a member of Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce where he served in leadership capacities with Jonesboro Young Professionals Network and Leadership Jonesboro.
Michael was a member of Jonesboro Country Club, the JCC Mens Golf Association and the 3.0 Tennis Team. He coached Little League baseball and basketball and enjoyed duck hunting. Michael was also an active member of the Arkansas State University Alumni Association and enjoyed taking cruise vacations with his family.
He was preceded in death by his step father, Tommy Conway.
Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Lauren Copenhaver Nunnally of the home, married July 24, 2010;
his mother, Rita Conway of Smithville;
1 son, Landry Nunnally and 1 daughter, Taytem Nunnally, both of the home;
2 sisters and brothers-in-law: Lisa and Mike Mitchell of Rome, Georgia, and Sarah and Alex Markway of Ash Flat;
his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Harold and Kathleen Copenhaver of Jonesboro;
his grandmother-in-law, Anita Covington of Jonesboro;
2 brothers-in-law: Austin and wife Hannah Beth Copenhaver and Myles Copenhaver, all of Jonesboro; and
6 nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Thursday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Rodney Reeves officiating. Austin Copenhaver will deliver the eulogy. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the church sanctuary.
Active pallbearers include Austin Copenhaver, Myles Copenhaver, Mike Mitchell, Mark Wiggins, Tyler Soo and Heath Sanders. Honorary pallbearers include CWL employees, PiKA Fraternity members and members of the Wiggins Sunday school class.
