TO VIEW MEMORIAL SLIDE SHOW
Michael “Mike” George Matthews, 56, of Brookland, died Thursday, January 11, 2018 at his residence. He had lived in Brookland for over thirty years, moving there from Kentucky. Mike attended the Woods Chapel Baptist Church. As a hobby, he enjoyed motorcycles. He was a truck driver and started driving the “Big Rigs” at the age of 18. Mike was a people person, loved spending time with his family and friends; as a friend, he would do anything for you. There was never a hungry animal in his yard. If it came into his yard, it was fed and watered. He just loved all living creatures. He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie; his parents and one brother.
Survivors include his son, Michael Matthews (Sarah) of Jonesboro; brothers, Bob Wilson of Florence, Kentucky; Bill Matthews, Steve Matthews, and Larry Matthews, all of Paragould; sisters, Deborah Reif of Valrico, Florida and Phyllis Matthews of Paragould; and one grand dog, Turbo.
Visitation will be from 5-7 Friday night at Emerson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rick Hathcoat officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
