Michael Ray Francis, 69, of Trumann, Arkansas, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on May 22, 2025. Born on August 11, 1955, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Michael lived a life defined by faith, family, strength, and entrepreneurial spirit.
He is survived by his loving fiancée, Patricia Smith; his former wife, Kathy Francis; two devoted daughters, Jinger Stacy of Trumann, AR, and Lori (Chad) Covey of Cache, OK; one devoted son, Talon Stacy; four cherished grandchildren, Ryan Kate Covey, Sophie Stacy, River Covey and Maggie McLaughlin; and four siblings, Norma Anderson of Jonesboro, Norman Jr. (Debbie) Francis of Trumann, Mary Jane (Phillip) King of Trumann, and Bill Francis of Trumann. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Francis Sr. and Julia Francis.
A devoted Christian, Michael’s greatest joy was his family—especially his grandchildren, whom he adored deeply. His passion for bodybuilding took him to California, where he trained under the legendary Vince Gironda and met Arnold Schwarzenegger on two occasions. He competed in and placed at numerous bodybuilding competitions nationwide and went on to own The Body Factory, a gym where he trained and mentored many, some of whom became champions in their own right.
In his early years, Michael also made his mark in professional wrestling as part of the duo “Mike and Bear: The Beautiful Pair,” a testament to his strength, charisma, and dedication.
Michael’s business acumen was exceptional. Coming from a lineage of grocers, he built upon that legacy by co-owning Francis Brothers Grocery Store with his brother. His entrepreneurial ventures included three locations of The Smokehouse, Mickey’s Quickie Convenience Store, Mickey’s Quicker Liquor, and three Tan Island tanning salons. He was also the proud owner of a used car business and a seasoned real estate investor with multiple properties throughout the region. His remarkable customer service and business instincts earned him respect across the community.
An avid drag racing enthusiast, Michael especially loved Pontiac GTOs and owned several throughout his life. Whether behind the wheel or behind the counter, he lived with purpose and drive. A Leo through and through, Michael was a protector, a mentor, a strong leader, and a man with a heart as bold as his dreams.
He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, passion, and kindness that will live on through his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched.
