Merry Christine Reid

Merry Christine Reid (Bryant) 86, of Cash, took her last earthly breath on December 6, 2025, and was immediately ushered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, who met her saying “Well done good and faithful servant. Welcome home!” Born on December 25, 1938 in Jonesboro, Christine’s life was a testament to unwavering devotion to family, faith, and community.

A lifelong resident of Cash, Christine was deeply rooted in the town where she was raised. She was a faithful lifetime member of Cash Baptist Church, where her presence was a constant source of warmth and strength for those around her. Her generous spirit and nurturing heart touched countless lives throughout the years. Christine retired from General Electric in the year 2000.

Christine dedicated her life to raising her five children and caring for generations of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and the comforting aroma of home-cooked meals. She found joy in cooking for her family and took pride in creating a welcoming space where everyone felt at home. Her yard bloomed under her care as she lovingly tended to her flowers – a reflection of the beauty she cultivated in every aspect of her life.

Christine’s legacy lives on through the many lives she nurtured with kindness, strength, and unconditional love. Her memory will continue to bring comfort to those who were fortunate enough to be part of her full and lively household.

She also enjoyed playing “Chicken Scratch,” every Thursday night, a favorite pastime that brought fun and connection to gatherings with her close friends. Known for taking care of everyone around her, Christine’s giving nature left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Buddy and Opal Bryant; brother, Bob Bryant, and Ruhl Bryant, Jack Bryant, and William “Pap” Bryant.

Christine is lovingly remembered by her children, son, Andy Reid (Becky); daughters, Ginger Thetford, Terrie Meeks (Mike), Tammy Jones (Michael) and June Jackson (Jeff). She is also survived by her sisters Frances Gibson and Viola Darr (Scotty). And brother, Jim Bryant (Shirley); 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be on Monday night, December 8, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 at Emerson Funeral Home, 1629 E. Nettleton, Jonesboro. A Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Cash Baptist Church 4144 AR-18 in Cash with Danny Russell officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Unity Cemetery with grandsons, Jason, Josh, Ben, Nick, Justin, Zack, Austin, Jacob and Gavin serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the ladies of the Thursday night Chicken Scratch, Gary Dunman, Ronnie Jones, Glen Hamrick, and Morris Watkins.
