Melissa Lee West

Melissa Lee West, 52, of Jonesboro, passed away on September 1, 2024, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born in Jonesboro on April 7, 1972, to Evans Myers and Lee Elkins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Cory West; maternal grandparents, Bob and Betty Ann Hurley Gardner; paternal grandparents, Hassel and Mary Wanda Gray Myers; and her step-brothers, Christopher Hudson and Matthew Hudson.

Melissa, a Jonesboro native, had the opportunity to see the world thanks to her work with the military. As a military spouse, her obligations led her to places like Guam and Italy. She was a carefree soul who found joy in life's simple pleasures. Her love for music was diverse, but country tunes always had her singing along. Melissa always had a beautiful singing voice. She was passionate about dancing from an early age and even taught classes during her time in Guam. Melissa's laughter, culinary skills, and family gatherings were her sources of joy. Her pride in her children and grandchildren was unwavering.

Melissa is survived by her father, Evans Myers Jr. (Carol); mother, Lee Elkins (Dennis); sons, Kaleb Puckett (Brooke), Hayden Puckett (Chelsea), and Christian Proffitt; daughters, Emily Proffitt, Lexy Proffitt, and step-daughter Courtney Allred (Cole); brother, Rob Hudson (Annie); step-brother, Jay Hudson (Jill); 11 grandchildren; 4 Aunts and 3 Uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Emerson Funeral Home. A visitation will precede the service from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
