Melba Taylor Fowler

July 19, 1923 — October 7, 2006

Melba Taylor Fowler, 83, of Jonesboro died peacefully Saturday October 7, at The Regional Medical Center in Memphis.

She was born in the Macey community and had lived in Jonesboro for 51 years. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, a wonderful mother to her three children, and a proud grandmother to her two grandchildren, the lights of her life.

An active member of Central Baptist Church, she delighted in the joy of a full Christian life and shared many happy moments with her husband, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dewey Taylor and Verta Borah Taylor, five brothers, Searcy, Gene, Hawk, Bob, and Jimmy Taylor and one sister Louise Masner.

Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Hubert B. Fowler of the home.

One son: Dr. James Fowler and his wife Catherine of Helena, Arkansas.

Two daughters: Shirley Orman and her husband James of Jackson, Tenn. Diana Nagel of Little Rock, AR

One sister: Kate Childress of Childress, AR

Two grandchildren: Allison Nagel and Michael Fowler and several nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday October 11, 2006 at the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Archie Mason and Rev. Larry Bailey officiating.

Burial will follow in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. October 10, 2006 at Emerson Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Welch, Jerry Taylor, James Orman, Joe Masner, Doug Johnson and Andy Fowler.

The family request that lasting memorials be made to Central Baptist Church, 3707 Harrisburg Road, Jonesboro, AR 72404.
