Melba Jean Stooksberry, 82, of Jonesboro, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was a native and lifetime resident of Jonesboro. She loved her church and was very active in the Greensboro Road Church of Christ. She retired from General Electric and also served as a caregiver. She loved taking care of her family and friends and was always there when she was needed. Her grandchildren said, “When it came to gardening, she was a pro.” She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Grace Jones; one daughter Sheila Ann nix and three brothers, Bryon “Sonny” Jones, Jerry Jones, and Bobby Jones.
Survivors include her brother, Larry Jones; sister, Rosetta Taylor; grandsons, Chad Hall and Scotty Hall; three great grandchildren, Chloey, Celilya, and Kinsleigh all of Jonesboro; nephews, Terry Jones, Robert Jones, Wendel Taylor, and David Jones; nieces, Sherry Taylor, Lara Bailey, Donna Mason, Kim Hendrix, Leah Bewley and Denicew Kildow.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Herndon Cemetery with Mitchell Despain, Terry Jones, Wendell Taylor, Arthur Wallace Jr., Tyler Robinson and Chad Hall serving as pallbearers. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time.
