Mayola Allison Felts, 82, of Jonesboro died Sunday, November 12, 2006 at the Craighead County Nursing Center. She was born in Cash, Arkansas and lived in the Egypt and Walnut Ridge area until moving to Jonesboro in 1951. She was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church and a member of the Caregivers Sunday School Class. She was truly appreciative of the love, support and prayers given by her Walnut Street Church Family.
She dropped out of school during WWII to work in a factory supporting the war effort. She retired from Sears after twenty-one years working her way up from an entry level floor clerk to Head Cashier.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Clyde Alton Felts, her parents, William Edward and Thena Arizona Allison. She was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, Edward Allison, Cleo Allison, Emanuel (Bunk) Allison, Ruby Rogers, Edith Greene, Zelma Pendley and Maggie Locke.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Laura Felts of San Antonio, Texas. Also surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Ward Cooper and Lindall Cooper of Jonesboro. Two sisters, Bernice Burris and Beatrice Blanchard are survivors and four grandchildren; Karen Felts Brown, John Felts, Allison Ward Whitmire and Aaron Ward. There are three great-grandchildren; Robyn Michelle Brown, Mary-Emma May Whitmire and Larkin Rie Whitmire.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Thursday, November 15, 2006 at Walnut Street Baptist Church with Dr. Glen Putman, Brother Jerry Parker and Brother Curtis Shatley officiating with burial to follow at Markham Cemetery near Egypt, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are Jim Gillis, Jim Ellis, Jim Corter, Joe Pierce, David Jeans and David Ward. Honorary Pallbearers are Don Barnes, L. L. Bennett, Allen Edwards, Calvin Hollingsworth, Marshall Border, Bob Householder, Johnny Shields, Dr. Michael Thompson, the members of the Fishers Sunday School Class. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 AM until service time with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
