May Dean Smith

May Dean Smith, 84 entered into rest Monday, April 3, 2017 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born in Reverie, Tennessee May 21, 1932.
She married Charles H. Smith and had three children. As young wife and mother, she attended cosmetology school in Blytheville, Arkansas. She worked as a hair dresser for twenty-five years. After retirement, she spent her time babysitting grandchildren and sometimes her friend’s children, McKenna and Matthew Bruner. She loved playing cards and games with her grandchildren and watching t.v. She always loved music, especially country, blues, rock and swing! She also loved holidays especially Christmas, she was a bigger kid than the grandkids! More than anything, she loved her family.
For the last fourteen and a half months, she has resided at Craighead Nursing Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Dr. Douglas Maglothin, the administrative staff and nursing staff took loving care of her and we are forever grateful to each and every one at CNC that touched her life and ours, the family.
Before entering CNC, she was a patient of Dr. Michael Tedder for many years. She loved Dr.Tedder and his nurse Jean and all the girls that worked in the front office. We thank them also for their care of our Mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Smith, Sr.; her parents Paul and Ollie May Godsey; brothers, Paul Godsey, Jr., Wilber Godsey, J.D. Godsey and Bud Godsey; Her grandchild, Peggy Jo Gatewood; great grandson, Beau Robert Gatewood; and son-in-law Robert Branscum, Sr.
She is survived by daughers, Carolyn Branscum, Peggy George (Joe); her son Charlie Smith, Jr. (Julie) and grandchildren, Robert Branscum (Cheryl), Chase Smith (Brooke), and Alexis Smith. Great grandchildren, Bradley Gilkey, Chelsea Gatewood, Kaitlyn Branscum, and Alivia Smith. Her brother Harry Godsey (Mary) and one sister, Dorothy Carol Godsey, and many nieces and nephews.
She also leaves behind her grand-fur babies,Guido George, Chico Papino Branscum and Sofie Smith; Great grand furbabies, Macy and Pixie Branscum.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 PM Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Emerson Funeral Home, 1629 E. Nettleton Ave., Jonesboro, Arkansas. After visitation a graveside service will begin at 3:00 PM at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Rick Clark officiating.
Pallbearers will be Robert Branscum, Chase Smith, Bobby George, Barry Ford , Ray Bruner and Raymond George.
