Maxine Erby

Maxine Darlene Erby, age 90, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Lexington Place Healthcare and Rehab in Jonesboro.
Born in Fisk, Missouri, Maxine lived much of her life in Jonesboro. She married Raymond D. Erby January 30, 1946, upon his discharge from the US Navy and his return from W.W. II. Raymond and Maxine were married 63 years until his death in August of 2009.
Maxine worked for many years at Indian Mall and retired from Wyatt's Cafeteria as Associate Manager. She was a charter member of Valley Ridge Baptist Church in Jonesboro, attending with her husband for many years until his death. Her ministry was the nursery and many babies and young children received tender care in her loving hands. Maxine also attended Sanctuary Baptist Church of Bono before her health failed.
Maxine enjoyed shopping and drinking coffee at Wal-Mart. She was strong, determined, and followed our Christian teachings to not worry and to enjoy each day. She most of all loved her family and strived to make everyone feel welcome in her home. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Raymond D. Erby; daughter Ruby Jean Erby Allen; parents Jess and Ruby Davis; two brothers William J. Davis, Jr. and Eugene Davis.
Survivors include two sons: David Erby, MD and wife, Jala of Jonesboro and Michael Erby and wife Rosie of Sylvania, Ohio;
two daughters: Charlotte Rose and husband Michael, and Patsy George and husband Terry, all of Jonesboro;
one sister, Imogene Rawls of Bay;
one nephew, Larry Rawls and wife Dianna of Bay;
9 grandchildren,
14 great grandchildren, and
1 great, great grandchild.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Terry George and Bobby Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in Willis Cemetery near Harrisburg. Visitation will precede the funeral service from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday.
Active pallbearers include Dawson Johnson, Raymond Mathew Erby, Eric Johnson, Christopher George, Jakob Rubio, and David Wayne Erby. Honorary pallbearers include Keith Allen, Sean Allen, Nikolas Rubio, Larry Rawls, Roy Aldridge and Nate George.
There will be a reception at the Valley Ridge Baptist Church Family Life Center following the committal service at Willis Cemetery.
