Max Landon Bishop age 79 departed this life January 29, 2013 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born August 31, 1933 to Louis and Zola Thorn Bishop of Bernie, Missouri. At the age of 3 years the family moved to Trumann, Arkansas.
Max was in the Army, and was a SP4 (E-4). He was a field communications crewman in the 2nd Howitzer Battalion.
Max was a truck driver for Colson Corp. for 31 and a half years. He had stated that in mileage he had driven to the moon and back twice. He was an excellent driver. His talent was repairs, he could repair anything. He kept his yard, home, automobiles, and lawn machinery in the best condition. His love was his family. He will be so missed.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ola Halfacre Bishop, his only child, a daughter Vicki Lynn (Kurt) Schuchardt; two grandchildren, Landon Kyle Schuchardt and Lauren Kirby Schuchardt all of Jonesboro; three sisters, Wanda Lee Grisham of Memphis Tennesse, Anna Elisabeth Mitchell of Ash Flat and Anita Gayle ( Dale) Walton of Trumann Arkansas; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Zola Bishop; two brothers, William Henry (Bill) Bishop, and A.B. Gatis.
Visitation will be Friday night from 5-8 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home. There will be a service on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home with Michael Jernigan, Dale Walton, and Kelly Webb officiating. He will be laid to rest at Jonesboro Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be nephews: Robin Bishop, George Brown, Kevin Long, and Steve Raglin.
Honorary Pallbears are: Larry Bishop, Eddie and Elise Brannon, Tom and Pat Finch, Tommy Hendrix, Charles McCrackin, Larry and Barbra Petty, Mel and Colleen Raglin, Kirby and Karen Roe, Joe Stewart, Bob and Bonnie Stotts, Donald Trentham, Donald and Bonnie Valentine, and Kelly and Ann Webb.
