Mavis Jane Holmes

Mavis Jane Holmes, 90, of Jonesboro passed from this life Monday, June 27, 2022 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was born to the late Clennie and Ida Wheeler on November 1, 1931 in Jonesboro. Mavis has resided in Jonesboro most of her life and was of the Church of Christ belief.

Mavis enjoyed spending time with her two grandkids, Heather and Casey and watching them in their Horse shows. She loved getting together with all of her family, especially her two great grandchildren. Mavis liked to deer hunt, fish, the outdoors, and sitting on the front porch drinking Dr. Pepper. Mavis also had a love for collecting all sorts of antique items and going to flea markets.

In addition to her parents, Mavis is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Holmes; sister, Mildred Pearson; brother, Billy Wheeler; three nephews, Randy Fowler, Thomas Holland, and Sammy Golden.

Mavis is survived by her son, Rick Hopkins of Brookland; daughter, Vickie George of Jonesboro; two sisters, Mary Fowler of Pine Bluff and Jackie Golden of Pocahontas; two grandchildren, Heather (Jerred) Tubbs and Casey George; and two great grandchildren, Jagger and Annajewel Tubbs.

A graveside service will be at 2 pm Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Pine Hill Cemetery with Brother Rick Hathcoat officiating.
