Marye T. Walker Hicken, 93, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Marye lived much of her life in the Chicago area cities of Lombard, Downers Grove and Naperville before moving to Jonesboro in 2006. She worked most of her adult life in office administration with Quill Corporation, DuPage County Government and the last 30 years with Nuveen Financials Chicago office. She was of the Catholic faith.
After settling in Jonesboro, Marye became an active member of Methodist Hospital of Jonesboro Auxiliary and then the NEA Baptist Auxiliary where she was recognized for volunteering over 5000 hours. She was preceded in death by her parents: James L. and Mary Frances Scholler Walker; 2 sisters: Geri Thomas and Ruth Dapp, and 1 brother, Bob Walker.
Survivors include one son, Edward Hicken of Green Bay, Wisconsin;
2 granddaughters: Kristina Stortz and Traci Sedlack, both of Illinois;
4 great grandchildren;
1 niece and her husband, Diane and Rick Carter of Brookland; and
2 nephews, Pete Dapp of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and Steven Dapp of Colorado.
A graveside funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018, in Rutherford Cemetery with Rev. Michael Blackwood officiating. There will be no visitation.
