Mary Louise Walker, 92 of Jonesboro passed away peacefully at Ridgecrest Health and Rehabilitation on Saturday November 2, 2019.
Born on November 6, 1926 in Lake City, AR, Daughter of Charlie and Zelma Sefers.
Lou, as her friends and family called her, moved to Jonesboro in 1965 with her husband L. D. Walker.
Lou worked for The State of Arkansas, first in the local Revenue Office and then the Arkansas State Police Troop C Headquarters in Jonesboro for over 25 years as a secretary and taught school in Dixie for a year. Lou taught Sunday School class and loved singing in the choir and is said to have been able to play the piano by ear. Lou also loved to dance and sing with her grandchildren and always had a “Ganny bag” for them. She enjoyed cooking and making sure all of her kids and grandkids had plenty to eat.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Zelma Sefers, husband of fifty years L. D. Walker: sister, Jewell Harper; brother Charlie Sefers and a great-granddaughter, Zoe Karis.
She is survived by her brother Bo (Helen) Sefers, sons Lloyd (Suzanne) Walker, Mike (Joy) Walker and daughter Pat (Bruce) Poleet.
Lou has eight grandchildren. Travis (Stacy) Williams, Katie (Ben) Emanuel, John Michael Walker, Clint (Melissa) Walker, Cody (Hayden) Walker, Stephanie (Scott) Atencio and Jeff Poleet as well as 6 great-grandchildren, Walker Dean Emanuel, Michael Trey Walker, Rhett Benjamin Walker, Presley Rae Caldwell, Heston Williams, and Knox Williams.
