Mary W. Markle

March 8, 1914 — February 20, 2007

Mary W. Markle, 92, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, February 20, 2007. She was born in Cherryvale, Kansas and moved to Jonesboro in 1937. She was of the Christian Science belief and a charter member and three time past president of the Chapter AJ of P.E.O. She was a member and past president of the Twentieth Century Club and on the Salvation Army Board of Directors.

She was preceded in death by her husband, minor M. Markle; her parents, James and Ednah Withrow; one granddaughter Betsy Elk Phillips; one brother and one sister.

She is survived by her son Dr. Minor M. Markle III, Armidale, New South Walles, Australia; two daughters, Carolyn Langford and husband Bud, Jonesboro; Marilyn Dee and husband Matt, Scottsdale, Arizona; two grandchildren, Lisa Langford Talley, Jonesboro; John Minor Elk and wife Amy, Jonesboro. Also surviving are five great grandchildren, Nick Talley, Robert Talley, Madeline Elk, Audrey Elk, and Evan Elk. The family want to thank the love and care given by her caregivers, Doris Simpson, Evon Bradbury, and Muriel Cox.

A memorial service will be 1:30 P. M., Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Emil Williams officiating, under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home with burial to be private. There will be no visitation.
