Mary Katherine Ross, 89, of Jonesboro passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center.
She was born on June 25, 1925 in Lynn to the late Joseph and Pearl Ann Osborn Penn. She grew up in the Portia area, before going on to marry the love of her life, the late Charles Ross. They were married 68 years, and she was a loving and supportive wife throughout their lives together. She stayed home with her children while they were growing up, and later going to work for SW Technical Institute in Camden. The family lived in NE Arkansas area most of their lives, and were members of the SW Church of Christ. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and her Christian example will be missed but never forgotten by her family.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers and sister-in-laws, Brooks and Marie Penn and Don and Wilma Jane Penn.
She is survived by one daughter, Kay and her husband Larry Sloan of Jonesboro; one son, Dick and his wife Lynn Ross of Louisville, KY; one brother, Thomas and wife Mary Trice Penn of Cave City; four grandchildren, Jason Sloan, Jordan, Andrew, and Sam Ross; two great grandchildren, Whitney Ford and Drake Sloan; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Adcox officiating. Burial will directly follow at 3:45pm in Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
