Mary Lou McCray
April 22, 1928 – April 2, 2018
Mary Lou McCray, 89, of Jonesboro passed away on April 2, 2018 at home. She was born to Everett and Murt Douglass Blankenship in Holcomb, Missouri on April 22, 1928 where she lived until 1961 when she moved to Jonesboro. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Arthur Dewaine McCray.
Mary Lou is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Carl) Schuchardt of Gulf Shores, AL; Linda (Mark) Keller of Jonesboro, AR; son, David (Kathy) McCray of Memphis, TN; and brother, Doug (Lou) of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, Craig Schuchardt (Rita), Clay Schuchardt, Kara Barkley (Ty), Jennifer Richardson, Grant Keller (Starli) and Lafe McCray; and eight great grandchildren; Andrew and Charles Schuchardt, Sydney and Libby Schuchardt, Harrison, Jacqueline and Susannah Barkley and Ryan Richardson.
Mary Lou was an active member of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro for 56 years. She was also a Regent Member of DAR, and also active in Red Hats, Readers Club, Eastern Star and Herb Society. Mary Lou worked at the Pentagon, St. Bernard's Auxiliary, McArthur Jr. High School, and the Central Office of Jonesboro Public Schools.
Family will receive friends Friday, April 6, 2018 from 1 - 2pm at First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. A funeral celebrating her life will immediately follow at 2pm with Emerson Funeral Home in charge. A private burial will be held at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Bernard’s Auxiliary, First Baptist Church Care Center or a charity of your choice.
