Mary Lucy Dupwe, 99, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at her home.
Born in Bell Fountain, Mississippi, Mrs. Dupwe moved to Jonesboro in 1935. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro where she was a nursery worker for many years. Mrs. Dupwe also worked in Miss Burris’ nursery and day school, and provided child care for Junior Auxiliary activities and events.
Mrs. Dupwe was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Floyd Dupwe, Sr., by a daughter-in-law: Kathleen Dupwe, and by 3 brothers and 1sister.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Martha and Mickey Stafford of Jonesboro;
2 sons and daughter-in-law: Floyd Dupwe, Jr. and Warren and Mila Dupwe, all of Jonesboro;
4 grandchildren and spouse: Sherrie Mitchell and Russell Dupwe, both of Jonesboro, Doug Dupwe of Sherwood, and Brian and Jenine Stafford of Little Rock;
2 great grandchildren, Megan Mitchell and Cody Dupwe; and
Her dedicated caregivers Martha, Sandra, and Heather.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Worth Gibson, Rev. John Miles, Rev. Jack Vu, and Rev. Ray Broadway officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include Doug Dupwe, Jim Wilkins, Larry Brimhall, George Osborn, Bobby Puryear, and Bill Foster; Honorary pallbearers include Mike Vinson, Doug Brimhall, Mickey Bridger, Dr. Doug Maglothin, Lynn Wimberley, Larry Johnson and Sid Johnson.
A rosary service will be held at 5:00 Friday evening at Emerson Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30 in the chapel.
For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
