Mary Lou West, 77, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 1, 1947, in Hamilton, Alabama, to the late Newt and Macie Ables. Known for her vibrant spirit and kind heart, Mary Lou was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
Mary Lou had a passion for life that was evident in everything she did. She found great joy in yard sales, always on the lookout for unique treasures and bargains. Her work ethic was unparalleled; she loved to stay busy and took pride in her various jobs over the years. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Whether it was a casual family gathering or a holiday celebration, Mary Lou's presence always added warmth and joy. Shopping was another of her favorite pastimes, and she had a knack for finding the perfect gift for her loved ones.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Walter West; her beloved son, Ronnie West; and her precious grandchildren, Breanna Quero and Zachery Brown. She was also predeceased by her sister, Myrtle Pritchet, and her brothers, Therman Ables, Kenneth Ables, Bob Ables, and Lewis Ables.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication through her surviving family members: her son, Jackie West (Rebecca) of Jonesboro; and her daughter, Beverly Quero of Jonesboro and daughter-in-law, Darvena West. Mary Lou was a proud grandmother to Brian West (Letisha), Jessica Rosales (Carlos), Ashley West (Fiancé, Johannes Crous), Kyle West (Amber), Kayla Quero, Aryiana Tovar, Brittany West, Amber West, and Tyler West. Her great-grandchildren, Natalie Boyd, Emily Rangel, Cristian Rosales, Carlos Giovani Rosales, Jaslyn Rosales, Madalyn West, Silvia Romero, Sophia Romero, Alex Romero, Paxton Harwell, Kyleigh Harwell, Timothy West, Addaleigh West, Creedence West, Luna Gonzalez, and Josiah Gonzalez. and great great grandchildren, Wilder Sage Boyd and Oakley Boyd, will carry forward her memory and the values she instilled in them.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Emerson Funeral Home. A celebration of Mary Lou's life will follow at 2:00 PM at the same location. She will be laid to rest at Pine Log Cemetery, where she will be reunited with those who went before her.
Mary Lou's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the importance of family. She touched many lives with her generosity and unwavering support. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary Lou's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her spirit of giving and kindness.
