Mary Anne Jones

Mary Anne Jones, 76, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Friday, January 15, 2021, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.

Born on February 6, 1944, in Piggott, AR,  Anne lived much of her adult life in Missouri where she taught high school mathematics and later transitioned to a reading specialist. She was active in teaching for 34 years in the Piedmont and Winfield R-IV school systems. Anne and her husband Wayne moved to Jonesboro in 2004, where they were members of  the Valley View Church of Christ and active in all church activities. After the death of her husband, Anne remained active in church including Bible classes and "Pairs and Spares" activities.

Anne enjoyed spending time at church, traveling, shopping and spending every free minute with her friends. She was a friend to many; more than could ever be named or counted, and was an extremely selfless Christian woman. Some of her happiest times were spent assisting others with any need requested or voiced.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Midge (Mowery) Goodman; husband Carlos Dewayne Jones; and three brothers: Sonny, Jerry and Johnny Goodman.

Survivors include a step daughter, Karen Jones White and husband Jim of Union, Kentucky;

2 grandchildren: Kayli White and Cooper White also of Union, KY;

4 sisters-in-law: Lanelle Goodman of Paragould, Kathy Goodman of Jonesboro, Parthy Gossett of Jonesboro and Joyce Jones of Marmaduke;

3 brothers-in-law: Farrell Miles of Jonesboro, Wayne Pruett of Paragould and Houston Jones of Sullivan, MO;

Many nieces and nephews and even more great nieces and great nephews; and lastly

Her best friend of 70 years, Barbara Graves of Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Valley View Church of Christ with Spencer Furby officiating. Burial will follow in Harvey's Chapel Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will precede the funeral service from 1:00-2:00 pm at the church. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Lynn Goodman, Lindy Goodman, Josh Goodman, Jacob Goodman, Perry Smith, and Allen Gossett.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders of Valley View Church of Christ and all of the friends she was blessed to have.

For lasting memorials the family asks that consideration be given to the Valley View Church of Christ Building Fund or Harvey's Chapel Cemetery Association.
