Mary "Jackye" Hodges

Mary “Jackye” Barnett Hodges, 90, of Brookland, died Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Craighead Nursing Center.

Jackye was born February 16, 1923, in Jonesboro to William and Claudie Barnett. She was a retired telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Jackye was preceded in death by three sisters.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, William “Dub” Hodges of the home; daughters Claudia (Charles) Weathers of Brookland, Debra (Tom) Sala of Dallas, Texas and Amy (David) Qualls of Collierville, Tennessee; 4 granddaughters: Jennifer (Mike) Stephenson, Jill (Mike) Smith all of Brookland, Terri (Jeremy) Jordan of Norman, Oklahoma and Emily Qualls of Collierville. She is also survived by one brother, Larry Barnett of Pine Bluff and five great grandchildren: Justin Mullins, Sloan Stephenson, Sydney Stephenson, Eli Mullins and Sydney Smith all of Brookland.

Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Rev. Rex Darling officiating.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, 5-7, at Emerson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2101 Pleasant Grove Rd., Jonesboro, AR 72401.

The family wishes to extend grateful appreciation to Dr. Mitchell and the entire staff at Craighead Nursing Center for their superior care for Mary during the past eight years.
