Mary Houston

Mary Houston, 79, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at her home. She was born in Cash and had lived most of her life in Jonesboro. Mary was a member of the Washington Avenue Church of Christ. She loved to cook and work in her yard. Mary was well known as a caring and giving person who would check on the sick and drive others to and from church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Houston, and her parents.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Howerton; sister, Gloria Martin, both of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Susan Howerton Rudd (Seth) of Jackson, Tennessee; Lisa Howerton of Newport; great grandchildren, Harbor and Asher Rudd, Traiz, DeKayis, DeShawn and De’Tavion.

Graveside services will be 3:00 Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Johnson Cemetery near Cash with Kenneth Gossett officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Visitation will the Thursday from noon until 2:00. A special thanks goes to her caregivers, who were faithfully devoted to her care. They are Lacey Giddens, Jeanie Mills and Ruby Mills.
