Mary Jane Higgins, 85, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born on January 27, 1939, in Dixie, Arkansas, to Joe and Mirtie Morgan.
A dedicated homemaker, Mary also worked at Southwestern Bell and at Arkansas State University's Continuing Education department. She attended First Methodist Church and held strong Methodist beliefs. Mary loved shopping, playing the piano, and most importantly, spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter Higgins, her brother Jerry Morgan, and her sisters Billie Jo Morgan and Peggy Sue Morgan.
She is survived by her daughter, Christi McCall (Tim) of Jonesboro, AR; her two grandchildren, Morgan Jones (Matthew) of Jonesboro and Britton McCall (Taylar) of Jonesboro; and her great-grandchild, Cooper Kay Jones.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Emerson Funeral Home from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a graveside service at Pine Log Cemetery at 1:30 PM. Jason McCall will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Matthew Jones, Britton McCall, Terry Morgan, Mark Jones, Jimmy Cooper, and Kyle Cooper.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mary’s memory to the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House (1148 E Matthews Ave, Jonesboro, AR 72401) or the First Methodist Church (P.O. Box 17284, Jonesboro, AR 72403).
