Mary A. Hester, 65, of Paragould passed away peacefully at her home
Tuesday morning with her husband and son by her side. She was born at Jonesboro on September 21, 1947, to Glenn and Arah Carlton. She was a graduate of Monette High School Class of 1965. She
was also a 1966 graduate of Draughon's Business College in Memphis.
Mary was very athletic. She played professional basketball with the All American Red Heads and semi-pro softball with the Caraway Jets. She loved golfing, fishing, and the great outdoors. She was a very smart businesswoman. She worked many years in banking
and insurance sales and was co-owner of Healthcare Marketing Medical Supplies. She was a co-owner of Rosehaven Villa Residential Care Facility.
Mary's greatest loves were her family and her church. Her family and her faith meant everything to her. She was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Mary is survived by her husband, Allen Hester of the home; one son, Todd Emison of Paragould; two stepdaughters, Mary-Margaret (Jay) Scholtens and Catherine (Chris) Averitt, both of Jonesboro; two brothers, Dean (Brenda) Carlton, and Mike (Dian) Carlton, both of Paragould; eight grandchildren, T. J. and Whitney Emison, Nathan, William, John, and Ben Scholtens, Graham and Caroline Averitt; nephews Barry Carlton, Chad
Carlton (and Missy); nieces Amie Cole (and Steve), Cindy Maxwell (and Dusty); three great nephews and five great nieces.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Arah Carlton, and her grandparents; Jess and Cassie Carlton, and Frank and Corene Frasure, and Agnes Frasure.
Visitation will be 5pm to 7pm Wednesday at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Rosary will follow at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be at 2pm on Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Vu officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jason
Sitz, Tony Austin, Bryan Crites, Steve Fowler, Steve Schmidt, and Dale Barnes.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Salvation Army.
