Mary Etta Garner Griffin, 89, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Stonebridge Assisted Living Center in Heber Springs.
Born in the community of Floyd, located in western White county northwest of Beebe, Mary Etta lived most of her life in Jonesboro. She was a homemaker and member of Christian Valley Christian Church where she sang in the women's quartet.
Mary Etta enjoyed cooking daily from her home-grown garden and Ralph's wildlife and fishing catches. She also enjoyed watching over all of her grandbabies.
Mary Etta was preceded in death by her parents: Alvin and Stella Latimer Garner; her husband of 62 years, Ralph Griffin; and son Mark Griffin. She was also preceded in death by brothers Barry, Earl, Ken, Homer, Herbert, Murrell, Walter and Floyd, and sister Sue Sexton.
Survivors include:
one daughter and son-in-law: Julie and Troy Gipson of Greers Ferry;
one son and daughter-in-law: David and Amelia Griffin of Jonesboro;
one sister, Elois Timbs and her twin brother John Garner;
9 grandchildren: Brent Gipson, Blaine Gipson, Jennifer Weaver, Ben Griffin, Dakota Griffin, Lyndon Griffin, Naythun Griffin, Jada Griffin and Hope Griffin;
5 great grandchildren; and
several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2022, in the Pavilion at McDaniel Cemetery in Jonesboro with Mitch Ford officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the cemetery.
Pallbearers include: Troy Gipson, Brent Gipson, Blaine Gipson, Carroll Caldwell, Steve Griffin and Steve Floyd.
