Mary Jane “Janie” Gray, 79, of Jonesboro, went to her Heavenly reward on Sunday, January 16, 2022. She was born on November 12, 1942 to Albert and Mary Ruth Hansen Pierce in Jonesboro. She had lived most of her life in Jonesboro. She was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church. Manicuring her lawn and raising a garden were two of her hobbies. But her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren. Janie retired from Barton Lumber Company and worked most of her career in Contractor Sales. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, George, Buddy, and Melvin Pierce; and sisters Linda Duffel, Zula Mae Brown, and Betty Smith.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Dale Gray, of the home; daughter, Terri Fletcher and husband, Don, of Jonesboro; brothers, Gaylon Pierce and Randall Pierce of Jonesboro; Raymond Pierce of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; sister, Carolyn Owens-Schwartz of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Katelyn Hall and Bethany Hall.
Funeral services will be 2:00 Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Grey Falanga officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be private with Jason Duffel, Hadley Owens, Caleb Pierce, Erik Looney, Michael Brown, Don Fletcher and Jacob Wellman serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer is Ann Wright, her best friend for more than 50 years. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time on Wednesday.
