Mary Geneva Burgess

November 15, 1920 — June 19, 2006

Mary Geneva Burgess, 85, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, died Monday morning at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born in Fountain Hill, Arkansas, Mrs. Burgess lived in Hamburg before moving to Jonesboro in 1983. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro where she formerly worked in the nursery.

Mrs. Burgess was a Past Grand Matron of the Hamburg Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of the Ashley-Chicot Extension Homemakers Club. She was preceded in death by her husband: J.D. Burgess.

Survivors include:

Son and Daughter-in-law: David and Fran Burgess of Jonesboro;

Daughters and Son-in-law: Felba and Ferrel Caster of Tatum, New Mexico, and
Melba Johnson;

Brothers: C.B. Rotton of Serpeta, Louisiana, and
Curtis Rotton of Portland, Arkansas;

10 Grandchildren,
15 Great Grandchildren, and
6 Great, Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mike Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Honorary pallbearers include members of the Agape Adult Couples Sunday School Class of Central Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 10-11 at Emerson Funeral Home.

For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to the Baptist Childrens Home in Portales, New Mexico, or the Central Baptist Church Building Fund, Jonesboro, Ark.
