Mary F Garrett

Mary F. Garrett, 88, of Brookland, passed away in Jonesboro on April 17, 2025. Born in Brookland on August 29, 1936, she was the daughter of the late George and Aleen Gambill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Garrett, and her siblings: Pete, William, CT, Ken, Joyce, Loyce, Susie, and Mae.

Mary was born and raised in Northeast Arkansas, where she spent most of her youth in Brookland. In later years, Mary was a member of New Antioch Baptist Church. Her husband, Ernest, made her a military spouse, which allowed her to travel the world. Mary loved the outdoors and spent hours enjoying nature and tending to her flower garden. She took great pride in her yard, and living in a military community meant keeping it in pristine condition. Mary strived to win the coveted Yard of the Week award, which she achieved multiple times. In recent years, she enjoyed a quiet life, choosing to spend her last peaceful years with her family, whom she loved dearly.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Phillis Cadle, Diane Garrett, and Mary (Sherry) Laxton; her grandchildren, Matthew Cadle, Justin Laxton, Jeremy Laxton (Max), and Andrew Laxton (Mary); and her great-grandchildren, Cale Cadle, Case Cadle, Cash Laxton, and Bo Laxton.
