Mary Joyce Barnes

Mary Joyce Barnes, 83, of Jonesboro passed from this life Thursday, August 20, 2015 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born August 15, 1932 in Gosnell to the late Jett Daniel and Loula Needham. Mary Joyce has spent the last fourteen years residing in Jonesboro after coming from Half Moon Community. She was also of the Baptist belief and was a member of Highland Drive Baptist Church. Mary Joyce was a great mother and housewife, great community caregiver, and just enjoyed helping others.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary Joyce was survived by her husband of 51 years, Don Barnes; one son: Tim (Cindy) Barnes of the Half Moon community; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A visitation will be from 5-7 pm Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Emerson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10 am Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Highland Drive Baptist Church with Brother Johnny Hutchison officiating. Burial will follow at Nettleton cemetery and active pallbearers will include: Leonard McDaniel, Phil Pannick, Randy Reynolds, Jerry Barnes, Gary Eubanks, and Royce Leonard.
