Marvyne Ray Jones, Jr.

June 12, 1920 — November 4, 2006

Marvyne Ray Jones, Jr., 86, of Jonesboro, died Saturday night at Skill Care Nursing Center. Mr. Jones had lived in Jonesboro since 1958 moving here from Memphis. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II and was decorated with a Purple Heart. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Sons of the Confederacy and a volunteer at NEA Medical Center. Mr. Jones was retired from Sears having worked there for 40 years as an engineer and district manager.

He is survived by his wife, Alberta Jones, of Jonesboro; a son, M. Ray Jones, III, Jonesboro; two daughters, Therese Snevely, Pinkerton, Ohio; Lisa Mechelle Clay, Pinkerton, Ohio; 1 brother, Henry Rudolph Jones, Grenada, Mississippi; 1 sister, Nora Marie Jones, Niceville, Florida; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church with Father Richard Cleary officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be Tom Gshwend, Guy Riga, Hubert Brodell, Tom Schmidt, Don Throesh, and Jim Murray.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rosary at 6:00 p.m.
