Marvin Stillwell

July 26, 1933 — April 1, 2013

Marvin Stillwell, 79, of Jonesboro, died Monday, April 1, 2013, at NEA Baptist Medical Center.

Born in Dewitt, Marvin lived in Pine Bluff before moving to Jonesboro in 1957. He was a retired produce manager for Safeway Supermarket where he worked for 30 years. Marvin was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of Nettleton Baptist Church.

Marvin was a member of the American Legion, was an avid gardener and thoroughly enjoyed meeting his buddies at the McDonald’s and Holiday Inn coffee shops. He was preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers and 3 sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Pat Miller Stillwell of the home;

1 daughter, Patsey Rook (Ted) of Jonesboro;

2 sons: John Stillwell (Beth) of Cameron, Texas, and Gregg Stillwell (Belinda) of Jonesboro;

1 brother, Charles Stillwell (Mary) of Benton;

5 grandchildren: Nick Rook (Megan Rhea), Josh Rook (Kali) and Abbey Stillwell all of Jonesboro, and Tyler Stillwell and Jessica Stillwell, both of Cameron, Texas;

1 great granddaughter, Eva Rook of Jonesboro; and

Several nephews, nieces and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ken Stallings officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Active pallbearers include Nick Rook, Josh Rook, Tyler Stillwell, Albert Ray, Larry Darr and Kenneth Smith. Honorary pallbearers include former Safeway employees and Marvin’s coffee buddies from McDonalds.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, 6-8, at Emerson Funeral Home.
