Marvin J. Pruitt, 80, of Trumann passed from this life Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at St .Bernard’s Medical Center. Marvin was born April 1, 1933 to the late William Arch and Bettie Pruitt in Portageville, MO. He spent most of his life residing in the Jonesboro area. He was also of the Pentecostal belief. Marvin was well known as a small business owner and mechanic. He has owned and operated Pruitt’s Garage since the early 60’s until just a few years ago when he retired. Marvin was such a generous man and enjoyed helping others.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, one sister Lucy Mae, and one brother Ernest.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Monalie Pruitt of the home, one son: John Pruitt of Jonesboro; two daughters: Betty Walker (Johnny) of Jonesboro and Janet Hart (Calvin) of Jonesboro; Nephew: Paul Eastworth and family of Jonesboro; two grandchildren: Pamela Whittaker and Christin Hart; two great grandchildren: Kylen Whittaker and Emily Whittaker.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014 at Emerson Funeral Home with Rev. Rudy Thrasher officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Active pallbearers include Herbie Ogles, Tony Robinson, Ernie Walker, Michael Whittaker, Kylen Whittaker, and Rick Hill. Honorary pallbearers include Russell Walls, Jim Turner, and Doug McMahan.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Emerson Funeral Home.
